65x Optical zoom of Canon SX60 VS Real Telephoto Lens

65x Optical zoom of Canon SX60 VS Real Telephoto Lens

We know that Canon SX60 has this huge 65x optical zoom equivalent to 1365mm. But I noticed some people ask, So what's the big deal about it ? There are bigger interchangeable lenses out there. Also comments like, I tried to take few pics from this camera with fullzoom and those are so bad quality. So if you are searching for DSLR like camera for low budget and thinking about buying this model I'm sure you would worry about these things.

Well first thing is this problem about low quality photos with full zoom. Now remember 65x is a massive zoom. You are trying to take photos of far far away objects. If you are a owner of DSLR with Telephoto lens then you would know why people use tripod for these lenses even if those are high quality fast lenses. If want to take photo 300 meters away from this camera then do it with a tripod and you will get sharp photos. Also remember light condition matters too.

If you don't like it that way then you need to check what other options available in market for you. What telephoto lenses available in market equivalent to this one.

Canon EF 1200mm lens

Canon EF 1200mm lens

Canon EF 1200mm lens is a f/5.6L USM is a super-telephoto prime lens and probably the closest thing if you are looking for a real thing equal to SX60 lens. Canon has made only less 100 of these lens and mostly use by intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Not more than 20 people own this model and not available in Stores. This Canon EF 1200mm lens cost you around $160,000 to get custom built one.
