Finally Canon has suppled a their own Filter Adapter for Canon SX10, SX20 and SX30 Cameras. It's called Canon FA-DC67A Filter Adapter. This Canon FA-DC67A Filter Adapter is perfect for Canon SX10 or SX20 or SX30 Cameras. It's well built and solid. The FA-DC67A Filter Adapter  is designed to move along with the lens while zooming, preventing vignetting at the wide-angle end of the zoom and providing filter coverage throughout the full optical zoom range of the lens.

Downside of this Canon FA-DC67A Filter Adapter is You can only mount 67mm Filters. Which are expensive than  58mm Filters which you can mount with usual Janco 58mm Filter Adapter. Cleaning Camera Filters

http://amzn.to/1LHiOMR

Cleaning Camera Filters have to be done very carefully since mistakes can damage coatings of your filters. Most of filters like Hoya HMC filters have Multi-Layer to give you best quality filters. You will find its pretty hard to clean them.

Due to their high precision, filters should always be handled with care and kept clean whenever possible. Filters should be cleaned gently with just a lens tissue or soft cotton cloth. Never use any chemicals, such as lens cleaning fluid, on your filters, as these can damage the coatings. If any stubborn stains occur, these can usually be washed off with some clean water and a soft cotton cloth.

I have Hoya 58mm S-HMC  PRO 1 UV filter and also a Hoya 58mm HMC Circular Polarized Filter using with my Canon Powershot SX10 IS camera. So I know how hard it is clean these Multi-Layer filters.

Hoya 58mm DMC PRO1 UV filter

Hoya 58mm DMC PRO1 UV filter
Hoya 58mm DMC PRO1 UV filter is one of the latest Hoya UV filters which you can use for your Canon Powershot SX10 IS camera.  I have a Hoya Super HMC PRO 1 UV filter which I bought for $60. These days I don't see it at Amazon. So I think Hoya 58mm DMC PRO1 UV filter is the next best thing you can find. Its also only $50 or less, Cheaper than Hoya 58mm Super HMC PRO 1 UV filter.

I have no idea how this Hoya Digital UV filter differ from Hoya Super HMC filter but I have seen loads of 5 star rating for it at Amazon. So I guess its a good quality filter just like the Hoya Super HMC PRO 1 UV filter. Also if you don't want to pay $50 for this Hoya 58mm DMC PRO1 UV filter then you can buy Hoya Super HMC UV filter ( not the PRO 1 ) for around $30 at Amazon. I think its a good filter for its price. Also its highly phrased by photographers.

I think this Hoya filter is one of the more affordable quality filters in market. It would work nicely for any Canon bridge camera from SX10 to Canon SX50 or SX60. Price is bit higher than average but better quality too.

Janco 58mm Filter Adapter For Canon SX10 IS Camera

Janco 58mm Filter Adapter

If you have a Canon Powershot SX10 IS camera then you must have realized you can't attach any filters to this camera since it has no filter mounts. Some try to force 52mm filters but its not very healthy for your camera. So the best option is having a 58mm Filter Adapter. Till now there was only one solution for that. That was Lensmate 58mm Filter Adapter which they have sold only through their site. Finally some other company has stepped in and has introduced another 58mm Filter Adapter to market. That is Janco 58mm Filter Adapter which you can simply buy from Amazon.com and its cheaper than Lensmate 58mm Filter Adapter too.

Janco 58mm Filter Adapter perfectly fits with all 3 cameras of this range. Canon Powershot sx10 IS, Canon Powershot SX1 IS and New Camera, Canon Powershop SX20 IS. If you have one of these cameras then you really need this 58mm Filter Adapter / Step-up ring. It let you use all 50mm filters as well as Macro conversion lenses such as Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro Conversion Lens. But of cause You can use the Raynox Maxro lens even without the 50mm Filter Adapter since its a snap-on type Lens.

There are bunch of accessories which you can use with this camera.

Circular Polarized Filter for SX10 IS

A Circular Polarized Filter is another great thing which would make your Canon SX10 IS camera out door photos look lot better. Light rays which are reflected by any surface become Polarized and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. There are 2 types of Polarize filters , PL (Linear Polarising) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarizing). PL-CIR filter is better for modern day cameras like Canon powershot SX10 IS or any DSLR which you would use Auto focus most of the time. Circular polarizers are designed for today's newer split-beam metering systems used in auto focus cameras. There are few types of CIR Polarized filters you can consider buying.
All these Circular Polarized filters work with Canon Powershot SX10 IS, Canon Powershot SX1 IS and new Camera Canon Powershot SX20 IS. You can use these for all these 3 cameras with Lensmate 58mm Filter Adapter.
HOYA 58mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter :

This is the latest Circular Polarizer filter model. New and the best but expensive. Hardened 8 Layer Waterproof Multi-Coating That is Scratch & Stain Resistant. If you have an expensive DSLR camera which you use for professional work with your SX10 IS camera I think you can buy this one. 8-layer multi-coating yields an average light transmission rate of 99.35% between 400 and 700nm. These coatings greatly reduce reflections off the surface of the glass allowing you to capture more light in your photos. This Great CIR Polarizer filter gonna cost you around 130 USD so Its not gonna be everyone's choice.

HOYA 58CIR 58mm Circular Polarized Filter :

I think this is the cheapest good quality Circular Polarised filter you can get in the camera market. This is not a Muti coated (HMC) filter. Its a single layer Polarized filter so capturing light won't be best like other 2 Circular Polarized filters mentioned here. You can find this filter at Amazon for around 35 USD. A good filter for the price.

HOYA HMC 58 mm Circular Polarizer Filter :

This is the best Circular Polariser Filter for Canon SX10 IS Camera. Mainly because its great quality (multi coated) and good price. This Hoya Circular Polarizer filter would cost aroudn 60$ but worth the price. Average light transmission of over 97%, giving sharp contrast and well-balanced color. I have one which I bought for 70$ from Lensmate ( you can find better price at Amazon) and It works great ! This one has 6 layers of coating. Great addition for your Canon powershot SX10 IS accessory list.

You need to have Lensmate 58mm Filter Adapter with your Canon powershot SX series camera to use these filters.

Hoya 58mm SUPER HMC PRO1 Haze UV Filter

Hoya 58mm Super HMC Pro-1 UV Filter
I posted about Hoya 58mm UV (Ultra Violet) Multi Coated Glass Filter before which can be used as a protective lens for Canon Powershot SX10 IS. One draw back about using a UV filter for your camera is they would absorb natural light and Photos might not be realistic or darker than you expected. If you serious about your photos same time about protecting your camera lens and if you don't mind spend few more dollars for it then go for a Hoya Super HMC UV filter or for a Hoya Super HMC PRO 1 UV filter. There is like 25$ price difference between these 2 UV filters and my recommendation is go for the Hoya SHMC PRO 1 UV filter.
This Hoya SHMC PRO 1 UV filter offers revolutionary performance in light transmission and color balance. 12 layers of Super Multicoating are applied to the surface of the Skylight 1B and UV models, which produce an average transmission of 99.7%. Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows increased resistance to flare the stunning images can be recorded at wide apertures without compromising the performance of your lenses.
They applied 12 layers of Super Multicoating to the surfaces of this filter to produce an average transmission of 99.7%. Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows for increased resistance to flare.
Of cause if you think its too much you can buy Hoya Super HMC UV filter which you can buy around 35$. Buy which is best for your need and pocket.

Lens protector for Canon SX10 IS Camera

Canon SX10 IS cameras 560 mm Lens is great but its a built in lens so you need to be careful about it. a crack or scratch on lens would be the end of your camera. So Its better use a Lens protector for your SX10 IS. There aren't anything specifically made has lens protectors for SX10 IS camera. But you can use a Good UV filter for this. Hoya 58mm UV (Ultra Violet) Multi Coated Glass Filter could be a good choice for this since you can buy it around 25 usd from Amazon.com
Remember you need to buy a Lansmate filter adapter for this too. Another wise UV filter won't fit in. Lasmate adapter can be bought only from their own site. Their stuff are bit expensive but thats the only choice we have for filter adapter. You can find UV flter and other filters for more cheaper price in Amazon.com

A list of Lens Filters you can use on Canon SX10 IS

Since you can't Fix kit lenses to Canon PowerShot SX10 IS except Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro Lens, Lens Filters are the way you can try to get best out of the camera with external accessories. But these days you really don't need too many Filters since you can do most of those work in your computer with photo editing software. There are places where filters such as Circular Polarized Filter come handy. Also these days photographers use UV filters mostly as a lens protector. Heres some Lens filters you might find handy with your Canon Powershop Sx10 IS camera.

Hoya SUPER HMC Haze UV Filter 58mm -

HAZE UV (0) absorbs the ultraviolet rays, which often make outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. It is a multi-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white films. It also serves as a permanent lens protector. Multiple coatings yield greater light transmission through the glass, and less glare. This would cost you around 35$ to 60$ at Amazon.com

HOYA 58CIR Circular Polarized Filter 58mm -

Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarised and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camara lens. PL (Linear Polarising) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarising) filters have the same effect, but it is important that you choose the correct version for your camera. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarising filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot.
It has a marking line on the forward (rotating) half of the filter, so you can keep track of the angle. Rotating the forward half is what changes the shadows reflecting off of the subject. you can buy this HOYA 58CIR Circular Polarized Filter as Amazon.com for 20$ - 50$. I saw few offers even around 18$.

Hoya 58mm Circular PL Polarizer HMC Multi-Coated Lens Filter -

This is same as the Circular Polarizer above but this is a multi coated one. You can have better result with this thought price is kind of high. HMC means this is a multi-coated filter, with 6 layers of coating on the glass, three on each side. Dramatically deepens blue skies, reduces unwanted reflections on nonmetallic surfaces and saturates colors, especially outdoors. The filter can be rotated to achieve the desired effect. Bought one at Lensmate for 70$ but you can find same at Amazon

B + W 58mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer Filter -

This is a High qaulity Circular Polarizer Filter which is expensive. Can cost you 80$ - 180$ at Amazon.com. High-quality B+W Kaesemann Polarizer is crafted from select polarizer foils and specially prepared optical glass. This neutral polarizer is edge sealed and therefore, it is durable under extreme climatic conditions. The use of this filter is recommended for the most stringent imaging requirements, especially with fast telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses. It is available in linear or circular. Filter factor is 2.3 to 2.8. Discriminating photographers regard the B+W Kaesemann-Type Polarizing Filter to be the very best of all polarizing filters. They are well suited for applications that require the highest possible imaging quality, especially with high-speed telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses.

Hoya HMC Neutral Density Filter ND8 58mm -

Neutral Density filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film or sensor. They have no effect on color balance. Neutral Density Filters enable slower shutter speeds to be used, to record movement or motion blur in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars. This one is avaliabe for 26$ at Lensmate.com and at Amazon.com you can find Neutral Density Filters for 25$ to 100$ depending on the brand and quality.

Canon PowerShot SX10IS Accessories

Canon PowerShot SX10IS is a super Zoom camera which has a 20x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 5.0-100mm (35mm film equivalent: 28-560mm). Canon havn't provided a way to put more extra lens on it since 560mm is something huge for a point & shoot camera. But there are other accessories which you might come handy for a Canon PowerShot SX10IS camera user. Here is a List of those Canon SX10is Camera accessories.

  • Lensmate 58mm SX10 Filter Holder - This is an accessory which every SX10is user must have ! The Lensmate SX filter holder will accept any 58mm threaded filter or step ring. Each is CNC-machined of Delrin to high tolerances, and bayonets onto the lens barrel quickly and securely. Its price is $15.9 at the moment and you can only buy it from Lensmate website for now.

  • Hakuba SX10 LCD Screen Protector - Made in Japan Ultra High Quality LCD screen protector to protect your LCD from scratches, dirts, fingerprints. This will help you to keep your LCD panel safe from scraches. This is also avaiable as Lensmate website for $9.95 but I think price maybe little too much. You can find one for less price and with free shipping at Amazon.com.

  • Hoya SUPER HMC 58 mm UV Filter - absorbs the ultraviolet rays, which often make outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. It is a multi-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white films. It also serves as a permanent lens protector. This is a genuine multi-coated UV filter let more than 99% light to go through it unlike other HMC UV Filters. This is a genuine multi-coated UV filter which is something you must have for the saftly of your camera lens ( You need 58mm SX10 Filter Holder to use this ). You can buy this at Amazon.com for around 30$.

  • HOYA 58CIR 58mm Circular Polarized Filter - They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarising filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. I bought a Hoya Circular HMC Polarizer (6 coats) 58mm for 70$ at Lensmate but Amazon.com has Circular Polarized Filter for even around 25$ which is a bargain price ! I don't see much different in quality So I don't think its bad to go for those at Amazon.com.

  • Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro Lens - The DCR-250 Super Macro lens obtains the maximum macro magnification power with the camera lens set at the most telephoto zoom position. This super Macro Conversion Lens, with Snap-on Universal Mount for 52mm to 67mm Filter Diameters. Raynox DCR-250 Macro Lens is a Great peice of accessories for your SX10IS camera. You are gonna need to have a Flash to work with this and take time to learn what you are doing but you are gonna have fun. I bought it at Lensmate for 45$ for sales price without shipping but you can find it in Amazon.com around 42-52$ with Free Shipping in USA.

You have to remember Filters and the Macro Lens need the 58 Filter adapter to fix them to your SX10IS. So you need to buy the Filter holder/adapter first and better buy like 2 since it wont make a differece in shipping cost. They will come handy at some point. Lensmate.com has good quality Canon SX10IS Accessories but unfortunatly they have only selected collection and prices are bit high. Because I saw the HMC Polarizer i bought for 70$ At Amazon.com for less than 40$ once. But another good thing is they do a quality packing. Package was neat and packed keeping the safty of goods in mind.
