Camera Bag for Canon SX60

Camera Bag for Canon SX60
Case Logic DCB-305 Camera Case

Unless you are buying a Camera bundle you need to find a camera bag for Canon SX60 you have newly bought or going to buy. These Canon Bridge cameras are not small or cheap as an average point and shoot camera but also not expensive or big as a DSLR camera. So you need to find a good camera bag which has some level of protection. It might not expensive as a DSLR but still it cost you around $450+ these days.

Finding a good camera bag for Canon SX60 is not easy as it looks because This camera and Canon SX50 little big bigger than previous Canon Bridge cameras. So you can't use the Case Logic DCB-304 camera case which I had bought for my old Canon SX10 model. But there is a Case Logic DCB-305 model which is mainly for cams but works great for SX60 too. Also it's not expensive either. cost you less than $25 and a quality product.

Just like the DCB-304 this Case Logic DCB-305 has received so many positive feedback from Amazon customers and I noticed several owners of SX60 among them too. You can use side zippered pockets store batteries and other accessories and there is inner pockets for memory cards. Also there is an interior divider separates hardware and charger. This camera case is great for your Canon Bridge cameras and other Super zoom cameras but not big enough for DSLR cameras. You need to buy a bigger and better camera bag like Case Logic TBC-409 DSLR Shoulder Bag or Nikon Deluxe Digital SLR Camera Case. These bags are not expensive and cost you only around $24 - $30.

Laurel Compact DSLR Camera Bag Carrying Case is another option for your bridge camera but it cost you around $30. Torkia Fitted Padded Case also priced around $30 and will suit for Canon SX60 or Canon SX50.

CheatSheet for Canon PowerShot SX60

CheatSheet for Canon PowerShot SX60
CheatSheet for Canon PowerShot SX60

Canon Powershot SX60 is an amazing camera. It's not a simple point and shoot camera but a device which comes with so many great features and functions. If this the first time for you to have a bridge camera like this one then you need to learn all about it's features. Canon no longer send printed manuals for these cameras either you learn all these stuff online or just have to download the pdf manual and then print it. Still even if you print it it will be something 200+ pages and not something you can always keep with you.

That's why this CheatSheet for Canon PowerShot SX60 would be really handy to keep it with you or in your camera bag. This way even if you are on field trip or some where outside still you can find out about Camera functions and features.I bought the the one for Canon SX50 and founds it's every helpful. Check the Amazon page and you will see how many five star rating this has received.

It's not a full manual but a really good quick reference. This Canon SX60 cheatsheet is a Laminated, waterproof and very sharp and clear quality product. Even thought it's just a sheet or paper it covers lots of important information you need like Battery info Focus, AF modes I-Contrast settings Power saving Focus, AF Frame modes Dynamic Range setting Menu reference Focus, AF point zoom Exposure compensation Function menu Focus, Macro mode, Menu functions etc.

Cheatsheet is a really good way to understand and learn the cameras important features fast without spending hours to read the full manual. It can be keep in your camera bag since it's made the way you can fold it.

But if you are looking for something to learn about photography or about how to take good quality photos or creative photos this won't help you there. Better buy a good book about basics of photography. There are few good simple books about it such as The Beginner's Photography Guide by Chris Gatcum or BetterPhoto Basics: The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Taking Photos Like a Pro by Jim Miotke. Both these photography books are very simple and easy to understand for all those non tech people out there. Plus these books are cheap too. Cost you less than $30 for both these books. Check the links below and find what others say about these books before buying.

Cheap Macro Lens for Canon SX60

Cheap Macro Lens for Canon SX60
A photo Taken with Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro

Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro Snap-On Lens is not exactly a macro lens. It's a Macro filter but a really good one. You probably know bridge cameras like Canon SX60 have no mount for interchangeable lenses. It has a big built in lens and it can't hold a weight of a big lens. So mounting one of those big Macro lenses like Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens or Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens is out of question. Well most of these lenses cost you more than you paid for your SX60 so I don't think anyone would want to buy anyway.
But Macro Photography is something you can't just ignore just because you don't have a big DSLR Camera or Expensive Macro lens. It's a beautiful thing and once you realize how fun it is you wouldn't want to stop playing Macro with your camera. All these Canon Bridge cameras are great for taking Macro photos and it has a really cool built-in Macro mode for this. My old Canon SX10 camera has 2 Macro modes called Macro mode and Super Macro mode but later version has only one, but hey these new models have faster lenses and CMOS sensors so one mode is more than enough.

But after a while you want to do more than your cameras built-in features offer you. Then you have to find way to improve your photos. Since we Bridge camera owners can't use big lenses our only other choice is Macro filters. There are plenty of cheap Macro filter products out there for even $10. I have tried many from ebay and Amazon but really I was not impressed with anything except this Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro lens. It's not cheap. It cost you around $70 - $80 because it's a quality product which is made in Japan. These days there aren't many things you get from out side of China factories.

Make sure to buy it from some where like Amazon because you really don't want to pay nearly $100 for a fake product. E-bay is not my choice for this.

It's really easy to use. It's a snap on filter so it will fit most of the cameras out there in market from various bridge cameras from Canon or other brands and even DSLR camera with a lens. You can easily use it with any camera which has a zoom lens. So It doesn't matter if you have old the oldest models like Canon SX10 or Canon SX20 or one of the latest models like Canon SX50 or Canon SX60.

You will need little bit of training before you start understanding how it works but all you need is few hours snapping photos at things like flowers and insects. But you will need to have few more accessories if you want to take the best out of it.  You need a Tripod and an External Flash. Tripods are cheap but external Flash could be pricy. There is a list of Flashes which compatible with Canon Bridge cameras but if you only want something for this Macro product then try this Macro Ring LED Light Set (>> Here <<). It works great and one of the best sellers at Amazon.

Buying A Canon SX60 Bundle

Buying Canon SX60 Bundle

These days you can find any online stores offer you these Camera Bundle packages. I know these offers looks pretty cool and cost effective comparing with total cost of accessories if you buy separate. But the Problem is these accessories you get with bundles are worth even that cheap price ?

For example this Canon SX60 Bundle shown in Above image ( More details HERE  ) can be found on Amazon for 519 usd. It has most vital accessories for your Canon SX60 camera. Like a camera bag, Mini Tripod, Spare battery, Memory card and a card reader and more items. All these items are very useful and you would use them sooner or later. This package packs two most important items, a 67mm filter adapter and 67mm UV lens filter.

You muct have a UV lens filter because it works as lens protector and keep your expensive camera lens safe from all kinds of accidents. Better replace a $20 filter than $500 camera, don't you think ?

Anyway one problem with this bundle is the SDHC memory card. Now it's an unbranded card with no mention of the speed class. When you have a camera like this you need to have a fastest memory card in market or at least fast one. Fastest in market right now is class10 and We can be sure this one is nowhere near.

Another thing is the battery. You need to keep spare battery with your camera. If you rarely use it then you don't need but if you are someone who want to use it for week long vacations then you must have two batteries. cheap batteries like this might not work well or hold power long. You have to find ether Canon battery or something with good reviews.

So when you buy a camera there are several accessories you should buy separate.
  • 67mm Lens Adapter.
  • 67mm UV Filter.
  • SDHC Memory Card.
  • Spare Battery.
It's Important buying these items with little bit of research. Those comes with bundles might be too old and outdated.

No Canon SX60 Yet

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70
Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70

It's been a while since Canon has released SX50 Camera and now 50x optical zoom becoming something belongs to past. Several camera companies has already released their 60x optical zoom bridge camera models and Canon has lost it's place as the front runner of bridge camera market. Canon Powershot SX50 HS is a great camera and no one who bought it would regret it but it's time for Canon to show what they got for 60x market.

There are rumors Canon has take a patent for 100x optical zoom technology. Now that's massive. It's hard to even imagine what kind of lens power a 100x optical zoom lens would have. Maybe Canon planing to wipe out competition by released a Canon SX100 camera with this Amazing mega zoom. Because last year Canon has announced there will be a new bridge camera released in 2014 and it hasn't happened yet. Meanwhile their rivals have released 60x bridge cameras.
All these cameras are 60x zoom cameras with all kind of latest technology. The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70 model is becoming quite popular because of it's low price comparing with other bridge cameras and the quality.
