Camera Bag for Canon SX60

Camera Bag for Canon SX60
Case Logic DCB-305 Camera Case

Unless you are buying a Camera bundle you need to find a camera bag for Canon SX60 you have newly bought or going to buy. These Canon Bridge cameras are not small or cheap as an average point and shoot camera but also not expensive or big as a DSLR camera. So you need to find a good camera bag which has some level of protection. It might not expensive as a DSLR but still it cost you around $450+ these days.

Finding a good camera bag for Canon SX60 is not easy as it looks because This camera and Canon SX50 little big bigger than previous Canon Bridge cameras. So you can't use the Case Logic DCB-304 camera case which I had bought for my old Canon SX10 model. But there is a Case Logic DCB-305 model which is mainly for cams but works great for SX60 too. Also it's not expensive either. cost you less than $25 and a quality product.

Just like the DCB-304 this Case Logic DCB-305 has received so many positive feedback from Amazon customers and I noticed several owners of SX60 among them too. You can use side zippered pockets store batteries and other accessories and there is inner pockets for memory cards. Also there is an interior divider separates hardware and charger. This camera case is great for your Canon Bridge cameras and other Super zoom cameras but not big enough for DSLR cameras. You need to buy a bigger and better camera bag like Case Logic TBC-409 DSLR Shoulder Bag or Nikon Deluxe Digital SLR Camera Case. These bags are not expensive and cost you only around $24 - $30.

Laurel Compact DSLR Camera Bag Carrying Case is another option for your bridge camera but it cost you around $30. Torkia Fitted Padded Case also priced around $30 and will suit for Canon SX60 or Canon SX50.

Canon SX60 Filter Adapter

Canon SX60 Filter Adapter

If you have already bought a Canon SX60 camera then you must have released you can't attached other lenses or filters to lens barrel. Mounting lenses it a different story but if you want to attach a lens filter then you need to buy a Canon SX60 Filter Adapter. When I first started this blog for my Canon SX10 camera there's were no Canon filter adapters which could use so I  had to use one of those third party adapters.

But now Canon has already released a custom build filter adapter for their Bridge cameras so you can buy that one. Canon FA 2DDC67A Filter Adapter is  little expensive, cost you around $30 so you can find an alternative for that. The best one I found is Bower 67 mm Adapter Tube for Canon bridge cameras. It cost you only around $8 so like three times cheaper than Canon filter adapter. You can see the current price in image you left side with current price at Amazon. I have bought these several times and never paid more than $10.  You can save little money this way and use that money to buy few other accessories which are really useful with your SX60.

All my old filters are 58mm because those days there were not custom 67mm filters for these cameras. I can't complain about those but Not exactly I feel great about those. I don't recommend those anymore since you can get that Bower 67mm adapter for cheaper.

Because if you are going to my a 67mm Adapter then You will need a 67mm lens cap too because the original one won't fit. Also since you are getting adapter you will need few filters too. Specially a UV filter.

Accessories for Canon SX60
  • 67mm Filter Adapter.
  • 67mm Lens Cap.
  • 67mm Lens Hood.
  • 67mm UV filter (for lens protection).
  • Raynox DCR-250 Macro filter.
One thing to remember is you can't attach external lenses to SX60 or any other Canon Bridge Cameras. All these cameras have inbuilt lenses and lens barrels can't take the weight of heavy lens. These cameras are made to use as alternative for DSLR cameras with expensive lenses.

65x Optical zoom of Canon SX60 VS Real Telephoto Lens

65x Optical zoom of Canon SX60 VS Real Telephoto Lens

We know that Canon SX60 has this huge 65x optical zoom equivalent to 1365mm. But I noticed some people ask, So what's the big deal about it ? There are bigger interchangeable lenses out there. Also comments like, I tried to take few pics from this camera with fullzoom and those are so bad quality. So if you are searching for DSLR like camera for low budget and thinking about buying this model I'm sure you would worry about these things.

Well first thing is this problem about low quality photos with full zoom. Now remember 65x is a massive zoom. You are trying to take photos of far far away objects. If you are a owner of DSLR with Telephoto lens then you would know why people use tripod for these lenses even if those are high quality fast lenses. If want to take photo 300 meters away from this camera then do it with a tripod and you will get sharp photos. Also remember light condition matters too.

If you don't like it that way then you need to check what other options available in market for you. What telephoto lenses available in market equivalent to this one.

Canon EF 1200mm lens

Canon EF 1200mm lens

Canon EF 1200mm lens is a f/5.6L USM is a super-telephoto prime lens and probably the closest thing if you are looking for a real thing equal to SX60 lens. Canon has made only less 100 of these lens and mostly use by intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Not more than 20 people own this model and not available in Stores. This Canon EF 1200mm lens cost you around $160,000 to get custom built one.

Canon SX60 Pros and Cons

Canon SX60 HS Camera

Canon SX60 HS is the latest and long waiting successor of Canon SX50 camera. It's been six years since Canon released Canon SX10 IS which is the first model in their successful Bridge camera line. I have had a great time with my SX10 and now it's in old age where it start having trouble preforming like it used to be. It's time for me to move to another newer model because I'm sure my beloved SX10 is in it's death bed. It's still work but having hard time with telephoto lens functions.

Anyway I need a new camera and this SX60 is one of the best choices I have. So here I thought about trying to figure Canon SX60 Pros and Cons. First things I love about this super zoom camera, I'm not a big camera guru and I don't want put this camera under microscope. I want to talk about it the way and how these we average camera users understand camera stuff. Just simple point to point pros and cons.

Optical zoom is always the high point of bridge cameras and SX60 has a 65x optical zoom which makes Canon is the leader in Bridge camera market. 66x means it's like 1365mm telephoto lens. I don't think there are such huge lenses available in market and if you have to custom build one like this will cost you at least $15,000. Okey now difference between a Bridge camera lens and real interchangeable lens is like sky and earth but still you can take great telephoto shots unlike any other point and shoot camera models.

SX60 can do Raw capture and one feature it become close to a entry level DSLR camera. This camera is great for someone who looking for DSLR camera to learn photography basics. It has almost all manual setting you expect from a entry level DSLR.

There's one thing you have to keep in mind. If you are going to do full 65x shots then you need a tripod. You don't able to do sharp photos hand held. You can find plenty of cheap but good Tripods at Amazon and get one under $50, a solid one. ( Search Here)

Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC let you save images and videos into other devices and this can be a great help when you want to post photos into social media or cover a Event like a wedding or party.

This has a 16.1 megapixel 1/2.3-inch high-sensitivity CMOS sensor unlike the 12 megapixel sensor Canon SX50 has. This is  not something I care much about since I don't want to make huge photo prints. resolution important if you want to print your photos in big format like those huge advertising banners.

Video Capture Resolution is pretty much same like in SX50 except for  1920 x 1080 (60p, 30p) while SX50 does 1920 x 1080 (24 fps). Anyway to get max out buy a fastest SDHC card in market. Right now class10 SDHC cards are the fastest and also make sure to buy from a Reputed brand like SanDisk Ultra, Sony 32GB SDHC Class 10 etc. You can buy these 2 models for less than $15 from Amazon with free shipping and also these are the best sellers.

I think only Con I can think about this camera is the price. $500 is high price for an point and shoot camera. But SX60 is beyond point and shoots cameras level when it comes to quality and features. Another thing is Canon Still hasn't moved to touch screen option. But it don't take it as something must have since these touch screens start giving problems after couple of years.
